What would it cost to travel from Oklahoma City, OK to Liskovo, Russia? And what would be needed?
Liskovo Russia is somewhere within Nizhniy Novgorod area (east of Moscow) and I'm curious what it would cost to get there. Also, what would one need to travel to Russia, and how would it be obtained? How long is the process from beginning to getting whatpapers are needed? Is the process the same for a Russian coming to America? How long can one stay (either direction) on a visit?

Ticket price depends on when you will be traveling. Summers are always more expensive simply because no tourist in his right mind will go to Russia in the winter! So a ticket for the middle of summer might cost you somewhere around $1000. But don't forget that you will need to obtain a special Visa to get into Russia also, in order to get a visa you will have to have a good reason for coming to visit. Like if you're coming for a funeral you will be issued one visa and if you're a tourist you'll be issued another visa. Visa costs about $150 for ten days, you can get a visa for a month for about $250 (you can google this info too). Oh and don't forget your passport. That is all you need! The process is usually a couple of weeks, you can pay extra to expedite the visa and you can stay for as long as you have that visa. It is much more difficult for a Russian to come to the U.S. though, they also need a visa but the Russian government issues it in very extreme (or lucky) situations....like if that person can't find a job there and absolutely needs to come to America to work then maybe they will let, that's up to the Russian embassy, there is nothing you can do. It's difficult I know, I've been flying back and forth to Moscow my whole life!

In the summer and at holidays, airfare will cost you between $1400-1800 USD. In the "off season" (September-April) the airfare is $900-1200. You will need to take the train to Liskovo, but it is inexpensive. Staying in Liskovo will be fairly inexpensive as well, but book arrangements in advance if you can find them. Now, speaking only of toursite visa's to Russia... You really need to book your travel through a Russian specializing travel agency, as only documents issues by a travel agency registered with the Russian Federation are valid for visa applications. The length of a visa to visit Russia does not depend on how much you pay, as stated above. It depends ONLY on how long the Russian Embassy validates it for. The differences in cost only apply to how long it takes them to process your application. Russian tourist visas are good for NO MORE THAN ONE MONTH!! The length of time to obtain the visa depends on several factors, including having the proper documentation, and how much you pay. You can expect roughly 2 weeks if you do it through a travel agent. See here for specifics on what you need to submit: http://www.russianembassy.org/consulat/TOUR-VIS.HTM Anyone who disagrees with what I say can argue with the Russian Federation, as this information comes directly off their site (as well as my personal experience). As to coming to the US.. the Russian government does NOT issue visas for their citizens to come to the US, as stated above. US visas are issued by the US Embassy in Moscow. They are difficult to obtain, and depend greatly on the circumstances. You can not "find work here and they will give you a visa" - if a Russian "finds work" in the USA, the US company must apply for the work visa, and only about 50,000 visas are issued per year for work (H1 visas) and they go to highly skilled workers. See the US State Department website for visa information on coming to the US: http://www.state.gov/travelandbusiness
